Love Stories…

Dear Friends,
Our Inn, renowned for its charming seaside location and classic architecture, transforms into a truly magical destination for weddings during the quieter, more intimate off-season months.
While summer brings bustling beachgoers, the cooler temperatures and dramatic coastal skies of late autumn, winter and early spring offer a uniquely romantic backdrop for couples to exchange their vows.
Every February, we take great pleasure in curating and featuring a select few of the beautiful and distinctive love stories that have unfolded within our historic walls. It serves as a heartwarming reminder of why the off-season has become such a special, sought-after time for saying "I do."

In Grace's Words…
My mom knew Corinne Taylor from their time working at Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. One summer, we ran into her at the hardware store and learned of her family's new endeavor with the Pelican Inn. Given that I was in between the age of both of her daughters, we ended up hitting it off and would hang out during my family's yearly summer vacation.
I wanted a single place where everything could happen - where guests could stay, we could share meals, handle setup, get ready, and enjoy the big day. It made it possible for the celebration to span the entire weekend, allowing us to maximize our time with guests who traveled from near and far.
If I could have frozen time, the highlight of the day would have been during dinner - sharing a sunset meal on the Pelican Inn porch with the people I love most. Getting to show my closest friends and family a place that has meant so much to me since childhood was incredibly special.
I'm so grateful to the Pelican Inn for welcoming us and allowing their space to be part of such a special occasion.

In Kathleen's Words…
We had never been to the Pelican Inn before we scheduled a tour. Steven found it during our search for a beach house venue and from the first moment it felt like a dream location.
We knew we wanted an intimate, personal wedding where we could really spend time with our guests. The Pelican Inn let us give rooms to our guests traveling long distances and gave us one space everyone could gather throughout the weekend. What made us choose the Pelican Inn above another beach house was the atmosphere. Being at the Inn felt like being outside of time, removed from the chaos of everyday life. We also adored being able to show our guests the best parts of South Carolina, the beautiful beaches and marshes.
The highlight of our day had to be the ceremony under the oak trees. The sun was setting perfectly, we were surrounded by our friends and family in what felt like a fairytale, and we were finally man and wife after 11 years together. But everything was perfect on that day, the fun of getting ready, the gorgeous photos with the perfect natural backdrops, and the freedom to enjoy our guests late into the night even after the dance floor had closed. We would not change a thing about our wedding at the Pelican Inn.
