Dear Friends,

As many of you know, during the off-season, the Pelican is one of the most popular venues on the island for weddings. We are proud to be able to offer our historic Inn to couples for their special day. Many of these folks spent their summers growing up here on the island, making it that much more special.

This month we are sharing the story of Christie and James. With deep connections to Pawley's Island, the couple invited friends and family to share their love. Take a peek at some of the highlights and read Christie's own words about what getting married at the Pelican meant to her and James.

“Pawleys Island is and always will be our favorite place. We vacation in Pawleys several times a year at our family's beach house, Tucked In. The Pelican Inn was the perfect spot for our wedding. Not only did we love that it was located on the Island but we also were intrigued by the history and the beauty of the property. The Pelican perfectly embodies the magic of Pawleys that we wanted to share with our friends and family. We toured the property and just knew it HAD to be the place!”

“It is hard to choose just one thing that was our favorite part of the day. Our wedding ceremony was down on the beach; shoes optional as our guests sipped champagne. We also loved dancing under the spanish moss with lights hanging from the beautiful tree canopy at our reception. We were able to use the Pelican Inn as a backdrop for what we love most - Pawleys, Family, Friends, and Fun! Our friends and family are still talking about how much fun they had at our wedding - almost 3 years later!”

“It rained the morning of our wedding day; however, once guests started to arrive the rain and clouds magically cleared and it was the most beautiful evening. The sea was calm and the sky was the prettiest pastel blue as we said our vows. One of our most favorite moments from our wedding was when the Mr. Softee ice cream truck arrived! We surprised our guests and opted for ice cream instead of wedding cake. I love to think back to our friends and family cheering when the truck pulled up. It really was the most special day. ”
